ECHO
ECHO
ECHO is a community driven project driven to unite the community of Anderson, SC. Through extensive research, our Design for Social Value class recognized a disconnect between individual narratives ultimately causing a gap between the community. Our purpose was to bring awareness to individual's unique narratives and provide unity within Anderson, SC. To do this, we create story teller boxes and placed them at local areas within town. These allowed members of the community to share their narrative and share how their journey has shaped them into who they are. These stories were then later displayed at an exhibition in December of 2023. The exhibition allowed for viewing and adding of additional stories.

STORY COLLECTORS
Story Collector
Story collector boxes were placed in several locations within the Anderson, SC area. Boxes were filled with cards that asked the question "How has your journey shaped who you are?" Individuals had the opportunity to interact with the box and answer the question anonymously. Once finished, cards were to be placed inside the box so that they could be displayed at the ECHO exhibit. QR codes were placed on the box to provide more information about ECHO, the exhibition, and our mission.
EXHIBITION
Exhibition
The exhibit was held in downtown Anderson on December 9th, 2023. This event served as an opportunity to bring the Anderson community together and provide a space where individuals could share their stories, journeys, and experiences.
When participating in the event, visitors were prompted to read and select a story card. After reading and analyzing the story, visitors were able to place the story based on the emotion(s) they felt the story best fit. The four emotions were joy, fear, sadness, and anger. If individuals had not previously filled out a story card using one of our boxes throughout town, they had the opportunity to fill out a story card at the event. They could then place it on the story wall for someone to place later.
By placing everyone's stories based on emotions, we were able to create a visual map of how the community of Anderson is feeling and share the narratives of individuals that participated.
